Centre, Inc.
WHY DO WE DISPLAY THE
FOLLOWING SIGN?
********
WARNING ********
IF YOU DO NOT
PURCHASE FROM US
MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE THE
LAB PROCESSING YOUR TEST IS AABB ACCREDITED.
******************************
 | The American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) is the only national accrediting agency for
relationship testing. AABB
accreditation is the assurance that your DNA test is performed
by qualified scientists and according to valid scientific
practices. |
 | Unaccredited laboratory results do not stand up in a
court of law if challenged. Many states have statutes
which require that court admissible testing must be
accomplished by an AABB accredited lab. Please see this
link for more information or discuss it with your attorney. |
 | Our Home DNA kits are tested identically as a legal
chain of custody test. The AABB does not accredit home
kit tests because the sample collection is not in accordance
with their sample collection standards. In summary, the
AABB requires the following for an accredited legal chain of
custody test which is different from a self collected (home)
test kit:
 | All biologic samples shall be collected by persons with
no interest in the outcome of the test. |
 | Photocopy of government issued identification or
photograph of the tested parties. |
 | Collected samples must be sealed in a tamper proof
package by the person verifying the collection. |
 | Tested participants cannot package or transfer their own
sample. |
|
 | If you do not purchase from us, follow these tips to insure
that you can count on your results:
 | Determine that an AABB accredited lab will be running
your test. When your results are received, verify
that the lab is on the AABB list. |
 | If the lab that ran your test is not accredited by the
AABB then you should seriously consider having another
test run. There are no laws dictating that a
lab cannot operate from a person's garage or basement by
inexperienced personnel. You should be confident
that the results are accurate. Do not trust
the information that non accredited labs place on their
website. Most of their information is fabricated
from competitor websites. |

 | The Relationship Testing Accreditation Program
is based on standards for the performance of tests for
relationships and provides for the assessment and accreditation of
laboratories performing relationship testing. This list of AABB-Accredited
Parentage Testing Laboratories specifies those laboratories in the US that have attained AABB
accreditation in relationship testing. This accreditation
helps laboratories achieve quality performance. For more
information regarding AABB accreditation, please contact
Nicole Bass at nikkib@aabb.org,

 | The American Association of Blood Banks
collects annual statistics from parentage testing laboratories
in the United States and abroad. The Parentage Testing
Standards Program Unit is proud to present the most current
data obtained from the Parentage Testing Annual Report Form.
The 2008
Annual Report Summary presents information regarding case volumes, trends and
changes in technologies, and mutation rates for RFLP and PCR
methods.
